Job Opportunities for Veterans and the Disabled via NYSID

For nearly ten years Image Integrator has worked with NYSID (New York State Industries for the Disabled) to provide employment for individuals with disabilities in our community.

Image Integrator is contracted with Arc of Onondaga to offer open production positions to veterans and individuals with disabilities first and foremost. Those wishing to inquire about open positions for disabled persons should contact Arc of Onondaga.

Job Opportunities

Image Integrator's production department is split into three job roles, which work together to get each project completed. Starting with the Document Prepper, followed by the Scanner Operator, and finishing with the Document Indexer. Each team plays a vital role in executing high quality results for every customer.

Document Prepper

Document preppers are responsible for preparing documents to be scanned. This role largely consists of removing staples and paperclips, moving sticky-notes, repairing tears with tape, tearing perforated documents and booklets, unfolding corners/edges, and sorting documents. Sorted documents must be paperclipped into their sorted groupings. Files and documents must be kept in the order in which they were received (with the exception of sorted documents). Preppers will also be responsible for record keeping for every box prepped, and must keep the boxes organized when retrieving and returning to their designated location in the office.

Looking for individuals with strong attention to detail, ability to work independently, problem solve, and follow instruction.

Document preppers will be trained on the job, and can expect to sit for long periods of time. This role requires moving boxes (up to 30lbs), though accommodations will be made to assist with the moving of boxes if medically necessary.

The scanner operators are counting on preppers to have these documents ready to run smoothly through the scanning equipment.

Scanner Operator

Scanner operators are responsible for operating document scanning equipment and imaging software. This role largely consists of feeding documents into the scanner and watching the computer screen to ensure scanned images appear legible and without visible errors, such as folded corners, lines across the image, or multi-feeds, before returning them neatly to their folder. Scanner operators are expected to identify and re-scan documents that need correcting as they go, which may require setting changes for the ideal result. Barcode sheets will often be needed to distinguish between separate files or sorted categories ("dividers") within a file, and are to be inserted at the start of each new file/divider. Scanner operators will also be responsible for record keeping for every box scanned, and must keep the boxes organized when retrieving and returning to their designated location in the office.

Looking for individuals with basic computer usage skills, strong attention to detail, ability to work independently, multitask, problem solve, and follow instruction.

Scanner Operators will be trained on the job in use of the scanning equipment and imaging software, and can expect to switch between sitting and standing frequently. This role requires moving boxes (up to 30lbs), though accommodations will be made to assist with the moving of boxes if medically necessary.

The indexers are counting on scanner operators to have scanned the documents with the necessary barcodes to prepare the documents for indexing.

Document indexers are responsible for entering all of the necessary metadata for each given project. Different projects will require different output/delivery methods based on the needs of the client. This role largely consists of typing data in accordance to what is found within each document. This includes things such as names, dates, years, check numbers, and other document titles. Indexers will be instructed on the indexing requires for each project. Indexers will visually scan the data on the screen for the necessary information and enter it into the field and/or file name as instructed. Indexers will be provided with a list of standards regarding the format of names, dates, and other data. As with prepping and scanning, indexers will be responsible for record keeping for every box/roll indexed.

Looking for individuals with average-above average computer usage and typing skills, strong attention to detail, who have the ability to work independently, problem solve, and follow instruction. Indexers may be expected to "switch gears" frequently between multiple different projects on the same day.

Document Indexers will be trained on the job in the use of a variety of software and databases as needed, and can expect to sit for long periods of time and/or move frequently from one PC to the next, depending on the workload and the nature of the projects at hand. This role almost never requires the moving of heavy boxes.

The customer is counting on the document indexer to provide data without spelling or formatting errors.
